EMDR Therapy

Learn more about EMDR & Trauma Therapy

When what happened in your life seem too much to manage by yourself. When you experience anxiety, fear and being on alert all the time, it can be exhausting. This may be part of having trauma symptoms and they take a toll on you. Maybe you were treated for PTSD in the past, but still experience symptoms.

EMDR therapy can help you move forward.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an effective psychotherapy that has been extensively researched and proven effective for the treatment of trauma, neglect, abuse and grief.

By providing bi-latteral stimuli (eye movement, tactile or sound) to the body, the brain is activated to process the challenging experience in a safe environment. Your brain will do the healing which means that you are in charge. The memory that was “stuck” or frozen in your memory will be processed and the challenging emotions that were tied to it may be lessened.

EMDR is not used for trauma healing only. It is used to help with anxiety, performance issues, phobias, negative perception of self, depression, unresolved grief and other issues. Together with an experienced clinician you can explore how to move forward on your path.

At times I will be asked the question “Why would I want to go into that painful memory?” and the answer is because your brain will do the healing for you.
